How Can This Test Help You?
Explore your hormonal picture
Measuring several hormones together gives you more information than a single hormone result. Your report helps you understand your levels alongside concerns such as menstrual changes, reduced libido, fatigue or changes in wellbeing.
Add context to perimenopause and menopause symptoms
If you are experiencing changes in your cycle, sleep or sexual wellbeing, the results provide a snapshot of the hormones measured. Your specialist can interpret these findings alongside your age, menstrual history and symptoms.
Compare morning and bedtime cortisol
Two cortisol samples show your levels at the start and end of your waking day. This adds useful context when discussing morning tiredness, difficulty winding down or disrupted sleep. A four-point profile offers additional detail about levels during the daytime.
Receive guidance on your next steps
Specialist interpretation helps make your report understandable and useful. Your results can support focused discussions about your symptoms, sleep routines, stress management and whether further assessment would be helpful.
Establish a baseline
Your report records your hormone levels at the time of collection. Where repeat testing is appropriate, it provides a starting point for comparing changes over time.
Who Should Consider This Test?
This profile may be of interest to women experiencing:
- Changes in menstrual regularity or PMS symptoms
- Perimenopausal or menopausal changes
- Reduced libido or changes in sexual wellbeing
- Persistent tiredness or reduced energy
- Poor sleep or difficulty winding down at bedtime
- Mood changes, irritability or difficulty concentrating
- Concerns about how stress and hormone levels may relate to their wellbeing
It is also an option for women seeking a hormone baseline or discussing treatment monitoring with their practitioner. For children, testing should address an age-appropriate clinical question.
Why Choose Saliva Hormone Testing?
Saliva collection makes it convenient to measure hormones at home, including cortisol at different times of day. It requires no blood draw and can be particularly helpful for people who prefer a non-invasive collection method.
ZRT offers LC-MS/MS saliva profiles capable of measuring low oestrogen concentrations and considers age, menstrual status and hormone supplementation when interpreting relevant results.

When Should Women Collect Their Samples?
For estradiol, progesterone and testosterone testing, the supplied ZRT instructions recommend the following timing:
| Your Cycle or Situation | When to Collect |
|---|---|
| Regular cycles lasting 23–26 days | Day 17, 18 or 19 |
| Regular cycles lasting 27–30 days | Day 21, 22 or 23 |
| Regular cycles lasting 31–34 days | Day 25, 26 or 27 |
| Longer or shorter regular cycles | 5–7 days before your next expected period |
| Infrequent or unpredictable periods | Any non-bleeding day |
| Postmenopausal or otherwise not menstruating | Any day |
| Children | Any day |
| Using hormone treatment | Follow the treatment-specific instructions in Section 3 |
Day 1 is the first day of menstrual flow, not spotting. Both saliva samples should be collected on your chosen day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this test measure five or six hormones?
It measures five different hormones. Cortisol is measured twice, producing six individual results: estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEAS, morning cortisol and bedtime cortisol.
How many samples do I need?
Two samples on the same day: one in the large tube upon waking and one in a small tube before bed. Your kit may contain additional tubes that are not needed for S-145.
How does this differ from Female Saliva Hormone Profile I?
Profile I, S-124, measures the same five hormones using a morning sample. S-145 adds bedtime cortisol, allowing comparison between morning and bedtime levels.
Can I use this test after menopause?
Yes. Women who are no longer menstruating can collect on any day. If you use HRT, also follow the treatment-specific collection guidance.
Can I use this test while taking HRT?
It may be suitable, depending on the type and route of treatment. Follow Section 3 of the collection instructions and record all hormones used. Continue prescribed treatment as directed. The instructions recommend an alternative sample type for troches or sublingual hormone therapy.
What if my periods are irregular?
For infrequent or unpredictable cycles, the instructions advise collecting on any non-bleeding day. Include your menstrual history on the requisition form to support interpretation.
Is the test suitable for children?
Yes, provided the required saliva volume can be collected. Include the child’s age and the reason for testing so results can be considered in the appropriate context.
Does the price include laboratory analysis?
Yes. Laboratory analysis and specialist interpretation are included. Return postage is paid separately.
How long is the kit valid for?
Use the kit within 12 months of purchase.
Where can I find the collection instructions?
