About Us

Who We Are

Hormone Lab UK (Testfield UK Ltd) is the official UK provider of ZRT Laboratory testing, supplying trusted at-home hormone, neurotransmitter and toxic heavy metal testing kits to customers across the UK, Europe and internationally.

Our aim is to make high-quality laboratory testing more accessible by providing convenient sample collection at home, at work or through a healthcare professional. Our testing services enable individuals and practitioners to obtain clinically meaningful laboratory data without the need for a traditional clinic visit for sample collection.

Our Mission

We believe that understanding your health should be simple, accessible and convenient.

Our mission is to provide reliable and practical testing solutions that can help identify potential hormonal and other health-related imbalances at an early stage. By making laboratory testing easier to access, we aim to empower individuals and healthcare professionals with meaningful information to support informed healthcare decisions.

Why We Partner with ZRT Laboratory

ZRT Laboratory is a leading specialty diagnostic laboratory focused on hormone, neurotransmitter, thyroid, adrenal, fertility, heavy metal and wellness testing.

Founded in 1998 by biochemist and breast cancer researcher Dr. David Zava, PhD, ZRT Laboratory has developed an international reputation for scientific research, laboratory innovation and minimally invasive testing.

ZRT provides testing using a range of specimen types, including saliva, dried blood spot (DBS), dried urine and serum. These testing methods offer healthcare professionals flexibility when selecting an appropriate sample type for different clinical applications.

With more than 25 years of laboratory experience, over 11 million tests performed, and healthcare professionals in more than 96 countries, ZRT has established itself as an internationally recognised specialist laboratory.

ZRT is CLIA-certified and has worked with researchers, healthcare organisations, government agencies and academic institutions, including organisations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Convenient and Flexible Testing

ZRT offers a comprehensive range of minimally invasive testing methods, including:

  • Saliva testing
  • Dried blood spot (DBS) testing
  • Dried urine testing

This range allows the appropriate sample type to be selected according to the test and clinical application.

For hormone testing, ZRT has developed testing methodologies and reference ranges designed to account for factors such as age, menstrual status and hormone supplementation.

Most laboratory results are available within approximately 3–5 business days, allowing healthcare professionals to review results and make informed decisions promptly.

Advanced Laboratory Technology

Accuracy and analytical quality are central to ZRT's laboratory processes.

Samples are analysed using advanced technologies, including LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry) and ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), together with rigorous laboratory quality-control procedures.

ZRT has participated in the CDC Hormone Standardization (HoSt) Program for testosterone and estradiol testing. The laboratory has also developed specialised saliva extraction methods designed to minimise background contamination and improve measurement of hormones present at low concentrations.

ZRT established the Salivary Proficiency Inter-laboratory Testing (SPIT) Program, supporting comparison of saliva testing performance between participating laboratories and contributing to higher analytical standards within the field.

Comprehensive Laboratory Reporting

ZRT laboratory reports are designed to provide healthcare professionals with more than individual laboratory values.

Where applicable, results can be considered alongside relevant information such as symptoms, hormone supplementation and clinical history. Previous results may also be available for comparison, helping healthcare professionals monitor changes over time.

Results are delivered securely through an online reporting platform, providing convenient access to laboratory information.

Clinical Support and Professional Education

ZRT is committed to supporting healthcare professionals through ongoing education and laboratory expertise.

Its professional resources include:

  • Clinical education and webinars
  • Technical resources and provider guides
  • Patient information materials
  • Scientific and laboratory reference materials
  • Clinical consultation and support

These resources are designed to help healthcare professionals better understand laboratory testing and the interpretation and application of laboratory results within clinical practice.

Advancing Laboratory Science

Research and innovation remain central to ZRT Laboratory's work.

The laboratory collaborates with researchers, healthcare organisations, government agencies and academic institutions internationally. Through scientific research, peer-reviewed publications, conferences and continued development of laboratory technologies, ZRT continues to contribute to advances in hormone and wellness testing.

By partnering with ZRT Laboratory, Hormone Lab UK provides customers throughout the UK, Europe and internationally with access to specialist laboratory testing from an established, research-focused diagnostic laboratory.

Founder Of ZRT Laboratory, Dr. David Zava

Dr. David Zava is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Scientist of ZRT Laboratory

Dr. David Zava, a biochemist by trade and a teacher at heart, is animated when he talks about his work. He didn’t start out trying to build a company — as a researcher, he wanted to provide health care practitioners and patients with a deeper understanding of the role hormones play in wellness.

The more he studied, the more test results he reviewed, and the more patient stories he heard, the more he knew he needed to channel his knowledge into something that enables people to be actively involved in their own health.

To this day, he’s continually searching to understand more fully how the world around us impacts our wellbeing, and how our lifestyle choices, environment and genetics impact the delicate balance of our hormones.

His hands-on approach trickles down through ZRT Laboratory, so much so that the company is renowned for the way it supports people and their health on such a personal level.

“There is no other reason to keep doing the work unless we find out a way to make the world a better place.”

ZRT Laboratory embodies Dr. Zava’s vision, and is recognized the world over as a team devoted to providing the most accurate results with the most educated insight into their meaning.
