A hormone and thyroid test measures the specific markers included in its panel. The results describe those measurements; they do not, by themselves, diagnose a condition or prove that one marker is causing symptoms.
The Male Comprehensive Hormone Profile II is a dried blood spot test. Its product page lists 14 markers across sex hormones, adrenal markers and thyroid markers, with LC-MS/MS testing.
Which markers are included?
- Sex hormone and adrenal markers: Estrone (E1), Estradiol (E2), Estriol (E3), progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, cortisol and SHBG.
- Thyroid markers: TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Total T4, TPO antibodies and thyroglobulin.
What can the results tell you?
The report provides values for the markers included in the panel, male-specific reference ranges and a specialist doctor comment. Results should be reviewed with a qualified healthcare professional alongside symptoms, medical history and any medicines or hormone treatments. They cannot, on their own, determine the cause of symptoms or what treatment is appropriate.
How is the sample collected?
The kit uses a finger-prick dried blood spot sample collected at home. Follow the kit instructions for collecting and returning the sample. The product page states that results are available within 3–5 working days after the laboratory receives the sample.
