This guide covers the dried blood spot LC-MS/MS hormone panel described in the Hormones 7 with SHBG collection instructions. It matches the blood spot hormone portion of the male and female SB-645 CardioMetabolic & Hormone Profiles. Those broader kits also include saliva cortisol and cardiometabolic testing, so use the separate instructions supplied for those samples as well.
What does the blood spot panel measure?
The matching product pages list seven sex hormones plus SHBG in the blood spot: estradiol (E2), estriol (E3), estrone (E1), progesterone (Pg), testosterone (T), DHEAS, cortisol and SHBG. The full SB-645 kit also includes four saliva cortisol timepoints and a separate cardiometabolic panel.
Before you begin
Read the panel-specific PDF and the instructions supplied with your kit before collecting. Confirm the SB-645 code and required sample card, then set out the lancet, alcohol pad, gauze and return materials on a clean, dry surface. Follow your kit for exact timing, preparation and cycle-day guidance; these can differ between panels. Do not apply timing or fasting instructions from another test.
Collect the dried blood spot
- Wash and dry your hands, and follow the kit instructions for warming your fingers and preparing the card.
- Write your name and the collection details where shown. Avoid touching the filter-paper areas.
- Clean the side of a finger with the alcohol pad and let it air-dry. Use the supplied lancet as directed, then follow the PDF about the first drop and how to place blood on the marked circles.

- Leave the card open to dry for the time stated in your instructions. Do not pack it while damp; then store and return it as directed by the kit.
Keep the different sample types separate
The supplied leaflet is for the blood spot hormone and SHBG portion. The full SB-645 kit also calls for saliva samples at four cortisol timepoints and includes a cardiometabolic blood spot panel. Follow each matching instruction sheet for those samples, timing and any preparation. Keep all tubes, cards and paperwork labelled and together according to the kit guide.
