This hormone test is designed to test five main hormones. Our laboratory will run the following tests to assess relevant hormones:

  • Estrone Hormone  (E1) (Estrogen),
  • Estradiol Hormone (E2) (Estrogen),
  • Estriol Hormone (E3) (Estrogen),
  • Progesterone Hormone (Pg),
  • Cortisol Hormone (C)

Cortisol is an indicator of adrenal function and exposure to stressors. Under normal circumstances, adrenal cortisol production shows a diurnal variation and is highest early in the morning, soon after waking, falling to lower levels in the evening. Average cortisol production offers a healthy ability to respond to stress. Low cortisol levels can indicate adrenal fatigue (a reduced ability to respond to stressors) and leave the body more vulnerable to poor blood sugar regulation and immune system dysfunction. Chronically high cortisol is a consequence of high, constant exposure to stressors. This has profound implications for long-term health, including an increased risk of cancer, osteoporosis, and possibly Alzheimer’s disease.

Estrogen is a critical part of the sexual and reproductive function – acting as an anti-oxidant neuroprotective agent and known to be profoundly associated with bone growth. Estrogen is also suspected of playing a significant role in breast and uterine endometrial lining cancer.

Progesterone is the hormone steroid that is produced by the body, which regulates the menstrual cycle and it is involved with the female menstrual cycle during pregnancy.

Menopause, certain illnesses, hormonal contraceptives and other factors can cause the estrogen and progesterone in your body to become unbalanced. If you are aware of your estrogen levels, you can counteract problems such as menstrual cycle disorders and severe menopausal symptoms; then this test is for you.
