Elite Male Saliva Hormone Profile
Concerned About Your Energy, Libido, Sleep or Physical Performance?
Persistent tiredness, reduced libido, poor sleep or changes in strength and motivation can affect your everyday life—but symptoms alone may not show which areas deserve attention.
The Elite Male Saliva Hormone Profile measures testosterone, three oestrogens, progesterone and DHEAS. It also compares your cortisol level upon waking with your level before bed.
This helps answer two practical questions:
How do my measured sex hormone levels compare with the laboratory ranges?
How does my cortisol level differ between morning and bedtime?
Your report presents eight results with reference ranges, visual graphs and hormone-specialist laboratory comments. These comments explain the findings and suggest useful next steps to consider.
- Eight results from two saliva samples
- Seven different hormones, with cortisol measured twice
- Testosterone and three separate oestrogen results
- Morning-to-bedtime cortisol comparison
- Collect at home without needles or a clinic appointment
- Hormone-specialist interpretation included
- Laboratory analysis included
- Normally reported within 3–5 working days after the laboratory receives your samples
Is This Test Right for Me?
This profile may be suitable if you want a broader male hormone assessment and are experiencing concerns such as:
- Low libido or changes in sexual function
- Persistent tiredness or reduced stamina
- Reduced strength or disappointing exercise recovery
- Changes in body composition
- Poor sleep, night waking or difficulty winding down
- Low motivation, irritability or difficulty concentrating
- Changes in wellbeing during periods of sustained stress
- Breast tenderness or changes in breast tissue
It may also be useful if you want:
- More information than a testosterone result alone
- Estrone, estradiol and estriol measured separately
- Morning and bedtime cortisol included with your sex hormone results
- A baseline for comparison with future tests
- Results to discuss with your healthcare professional
- Laboratory information to support a practitioner-led review of hormone treatment, where appropriate
These symptoms can have several possible causes. This profile measures the listed hormones and helps identify areas for further discussion; it does not establish one definitive cause for every symptom.
What Will My Results Help Me Understand?
1. Review Your Testosterone Result
Your report shows the amount of testosterone measured in your saliva and compares it with the applicable laboratory range.
Benefit: You receive an objective result to consider alongside concerns about libido, energy, strength, motivation or physical wellbeing.
The result does not diagnose testosterone deficiency or replace a clinical assessment.
2. See Three Separate Oestrogen Results
The profile measures estrone, estradiol and estriol individually.
Benefit: You receive a broader oestrogen assessment than a profile measuring estradiol alone. Your specialist can consider these results alongside testosterone, your symptoms and any hormone treatment.
The test reports the individual results but should not be used alone to determine the source or cause of an abnormal oestrogen level.
3. Review Progesterone and DHEAS
Progesterone and DHEAS provide additional information about your measured steroid hormone profile.
Benefit: These results give your specialist more laboratory information to consider alongside testosterone, the three oestrogens and your reported symptoms.
4. Compare Morning and Bedtime Cortisol
Cortisol is measured upon waking and again before bed.
Benefit: The two results show whether your cortisol level changes between the beginning and end of your waking day. This may be helpful when discussing morning tiredness, difficulty winding down, sleep or energy.
This is a two-point comparison. It does not provide the complete daily pattern shown by a four-point cortisol profile.
5. Decide What to Do Next
Your results are accompanied by hormone-specialist laboratory comments.
Benefit: You receive an explanation of relevant findings rather than a set of unexplained numbers. Depending on your results and the information supplied on your requisition form, the comments may highlight:
- Results that deserve further discussion
- Relevant symptoms, medicines or hormone treatments
- Practical areas to review with your healthcare professional
- Whether further assessment may provide useful information
- Findings that may be suitable for future comparison
What Will My Report Include?
Your ZRT Laboratory report includes:
- Eight individual hormone results
- Laboratory reference ranges
- Visual graphs showing where your results fall
- Clear indicators for results outside the applicable range
- Your recorded sample-collection dates and times
- Relevant medicines and hormone treatments reported on your form
- Your reported symptoms, where applicable
- Individualised hormone-specialist laboratory comments
- Suggested considerations or next steps based on the reported findings
The specialist interpretation is included within your ZRT Laboratory report. There is no separate Hormone Lab UK specialist report.
Providing complete information about your symptoms, medicines, supplements and hormone treatments helps make the laboratory comments more relevant to you.
What Does the Test Measure?
| Result | What it adds to your assessment |
|---|---|
| Testosterone | Provides a testosterone measurement to consider alongside concerns about sexual and physical wellbeing |
| Estrone (E1) | Extends the oestrogen assessment beyond estradiol alone |
| Estradiol (E2) | Measures a key oestrogen alongside testosterone |
| Estriol (E3) | Completes the three-oestrogen assessment |
| Progesterone | Adds further information about your measured steroid hormone profile |
| DHEAS | Measures an adrenal androgen involved in the production of other sex hormones |
| Morning cortisol | Shows your cortisol level at the beginning of your waking day |
| Bedtime cortisol | Allows comparison with your morning cortisol result |
Saliva testing measures the unbound fraction of these hormones present in the samples. Saliva and blood tests measure hormones differently, so their results and reference ranges should not be used interchangeably.

Which Male Hormone Test Should I Choose?
| What do you want to understand? | Suggested test |
|---|---|
| Testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, DHEAS and one morning cortisol result | Male Saliva Hormone Profile I |
| Testosterone, all three oestrogens, progesterone, DHEAS and one morning cortisol result | Male Saliva Hormone Profile III |
| The same seven hormones, with cortisol compared upon waking and before bed | Elite Male Saliva Hormone Profile |
| All three oestrogens plus a complete four-point daily cortisol profile | Advanced Male Saliva Hormone Profile |
Choose the Elite profile if you want a broad assessment that includes testosterone, three oestrogens and a simple morning-to-bedtime cortisol comparison.
If energy or stress-related concerns occur at different times throughout the day, a four-point cortisol profile may provide more relevant information.
Preparing for Your Test
To help produce usable samples:
- Avoid anti-ageing or anti-wrinkle facial creams and biotin supplements for three days before collection.
- Record all medicines, supplements and hormone treatments on your Test Requisition Form.
- Collect the morning sample within 30 minutes of waking.
- Do not eat, drink anything other than water or brush your teeth before the morning sample.
- Avoid food, drinks other than water and toothbrushing for two hours before the bedtime sample.
- Rinse your mouth with water and wait five minutes before collecting.
- Fill each required tube at least halfway, excluding bubbles.
- Label both tubes with your name, collection date and collection time.
- Freeze the samples if they will not be posted within 24 hours.
If you use testosterone therapy, corticosteroids, troches or hormones dissolved under the tongue, follow the treatment-specific instructions before collecting. An alternative sample type may be recommended for some treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Are the Eight Results?
Testosterone, estrone, estradiol, estriol, progesterone, DHEAS, morning cortisol and bedtime cortisol.
These represent seven different hormones, with cortisol measured twice.
How Many Samples Do I Need to Collect?
Two samples on the same day:
- One sample in the large tube within 30 minutes of waking
- One sample in a small tube before bed
Follow the S-146 schedule in your instructions. Additional tubes supplied in the collection kit are not required for this profile.
Does the Report Include Specialist Interpretation?
Yes. Hormone-specialist laboratory comments are included within your ZRT Laboratory report.
The comments explain relevant findings and may suggest points to discuss, practical areas to review or further assessment to consider. They are not a separate medical consultation.
Does This Test Provide a Complete Daily Cortisol Pattern?
No. It compares cortisol upon waking and before bed.
If you want to see how cortisol changes at four points from morning to bedtime, choose a profile containing a four-point cortisol assessment.
How Does This Differ From the Male Complete Saliva Hormone Profile?
The Male Complete profile measures testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, DHEAS and cortisol upon waking and before bed.
The Elite profile adds estrone and estriol, providing three separate oestrogen results.
How Does This Differ From Male Saliva Hormone Profile III?
Both profiles measure testosterone, estrone, estradiol, estriol, progesterone, DHEAS and morning cortisol.
The Elite profile also includes a bedtime cortisol result, allowing a morning-to-bedtime comparison.
Can I Use This Test While Taking TRT?
It may be suitable depending on how your treatment is administered.
Continue prescribed treatment as directed, record all hormone use on the Test Requisition Form and follow the treatment-specific collection instructions. An alternative sample type may be recommended for troches or hormones taken under the tongue.
This profile provides hormone measurements to discuss with your healthcare professional. It does not assess the safety or effectiveness of TRT by itself.
Can This Test Help With Exercise-Recovery Concerns?
The results provide hormone information to consider alongside your training, sleep, nutrition and symptoms.
The specialist laboratory comments may help identify findings that deserve further discussion, but the profile does not diagnose overtraining or establish the cause of poor recovery.
Is the Test Suitable for Children?
Yes, provided the child can supply the required amount of saliva. Include their age, symptoms and reason for testing so the results can be considered appropriately.
How Quickly Will I Receive My Results?
The laboratory normally reports within 3–5 working days after receiving your samples. Kit delivery and return-postage times are additional.
Does the Price Include Laboratory Analysis?
Yes. The collection kit, laboratory analysis, digital report and hormone-specialist laboratory comments are included.
You are responsible for arranging and paying for return postage to the laboratory.
How Long Can I Keep the Kit?
Use the kit within 12 months of purchase.
